Meet our new Teaching Assistants: Sayeed, Chloe and Nick

During Term 3 and the commencement of Term 4, The Currajong School welcomed three new Teaching Assistants to our Team, to support the students with their academic, social and wellbeing needs. Sayeed commenced in Term 3 as the new teaching assistant in Group 4. Chloe and Nick have commenced at the start of this term. Chloe will be supporting Group 1, and Nick will be the new teaching assistant in Group 2.

Sayeed: has worked with disengaged, and students with challenging behaviors for a number of years. His most recent experience before commencing at The Currajong School, was at Marnebek School, where he worked with complex case students who have severe behaviour disorders. Sayeed brings a wealth of knowledge around school wide positive behaviour, and strategies to help students regulate their behaviours when unsettled or dysregulated.

Chloe: Chloe is a passionate and enthusiastic teaching assistant who shares a love of teaching and learning in the specialist school environment. Chloe has spent many years in a specialist school environment supporting students with behaviours of concern and supporting their social, emotional and academic needs. Chloe is also studying her Bachelor of Education through distant education, and this has given her fresh ideas and understanding of both current curriculum and wellbeing initiatives in other school settings that can complement and support our students at The Currajong School.

Nick: Nick has an excellent understanding of the framework for school wide positive behaviour supports and how this can be integrated to supports students learning and capacity building around expected and desired behaviours. As well as being a teaching assistant, Nick has also been supporting his current school with the DET tutor initiative during 2021. He has been supporting teachers with intervention programs for small groups based on student achievement data to help progress student learning outcomes in particular areas. Nick is also studying his Bachelor of Education online.
